Adoption
Our goal at Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue is to match the right horse to the right adopter. This involves filling out an application and submitting it to the rescue. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
Fostering
Are you an experienced draft horse enthusiast, have an open stall, and are looking to make a difference in the life of a draft horse? Join our team as a foster home and help us save the lives of more draft horses. Fosters will need to pay for hay, feed, and farrier care. Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue will cover the cost of vet care. If you are interested, please fill out an application or email us at roancharranchrescue@outlook.com with any questions you have.
Companion Horses
Abe
I am a 18-year-old Haflinger gelding. I need someone patient, with a gentle hand, and who is willing to build my confidence without pushing me too far. Once you have gained my trust, I am very loving and loyal. I am a very easy keeper, I put weight on looking at a pasture, and I stand well for the farrier and vet.
Louie
My given name is Lucky and Cool, but everyone calls me Louie. I am a 14-year-old Thoroughbred gelding. I am full of personality and love attention. I love to have my head scratched and pick up things with my mouth. I have great ground manners, am perfect for the farrier and vet, and am an easy keeper. While I am not able to be ridden any longer, I still have lots of love to offer.
Sucess Stories
Amos
Amos, a 22-year-old Haflinger, was in need of a new home when his elderly owners were no longer able to care for him or his 23-year-old brother Andy. It didn’t take long for a young family to adopt them both. They are now enjoying their time being ridden and bathed by their own little girl.
Andy
Andy, a 23-year-old Haflinger, was in need of a new home when his elderly owners were no longer able to care for him or his 22-year-old brother Amos. It didn’t take long for a young family to adopt them both. They are now enjoying their time being ridden and bathed by their own little girl.
Lander
Lander, a 21-year-old Clydesdale cross, found himself in need of a new home when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He found a family, who was looking for a companion for their Brabant and spent the remainder of his days being loved and well cared for.
Magdalene
Magdalene, a 7-year-old Haflinger cross, arrived after being rescued from a severe abuse case. It took her two years to trust humans again and to enjoy being ridden. After being returned when an adoption did not work, she found her forever home with a partner that she loved unconditionally. The two of them were the true definition of a team. Unfortunately, Magdalene passed at the age of 13 from temporohyoid osteoarthropathy (THO), a progressive disease of the middle ear, the temporohyoid joint, the stylohyoid bone, and the base of the skull.
